JusticeRain INC was established in order to help facilitate works of compassion, transformational development and advocacy in partnership with identified communities throughout the world. The old adage is true: If a man is hungry, give him a fish (compassion/relief). Better yet, teach him how to fish and give him the equipment to fish (transformational development). But who owns the pond? Who has access to the pond? Why is one pond stocked with fish, the other polluted? (advocacy)

Compassion: Deep awareness of the suffering of another coupled with the wish to relieve it.

"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me" (Mt.25:35-36).

Development: An incident that causes a situation to change or progress

“Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins and will raise up the age-old foundations; you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings” (Is.58:12).

Advocacy: The act of pleading or arguing in favor of something, such as a cause, idea, or policy; active support. Giving aid to a cause: active verbal support for a cause or position

"Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are
destitute” (Prov.31:8).
“Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter” (Prov.24:11).

Development: micro-financing, agricultural development, establishment of cottage industries, training/coaching. [3] Reconciliation: in family life, in
partnerships, in communities and in a particular culture--the work of peace-making creates new opportunities for God's Kingdom to advance. [4]
Education: Developing the minds of children and youth is a significant deposit into the future and a key transformational ingredient in any culture.

Under "Advocacy" are two broad areas: [1] Exploitation/Oppression: speaking and acting on behalf of those who are suffering and victims of human rights
violations, and [2] Policies/Legal/Government: Intervening through legal or governmental agencies-- taking action through letter-writing and raising
awareness of injustices in order to bring about positive changes.

The goal: to be ambassadors of reconciliation, to be active in the work of restoring shalom to this broken world. Both word and deed are essential for our
testimony to be a clear representation of the gospel. As Bonhoeffer wrote: “We are not to simply bandage the wounds of victims beneath the wheels  of
injustice, but we are to drive a spoke into the wheel itself."
Under the broad umbrella of "Compassion" are the works of sustenance/relief and medical/healing. Those who have food and water are called to share with those who do not. When someone is injured on the side of the road, those who are able to help bring healing are called to help. Compassion means we help with the basic necessities of life. God desires everyone to have shelter, clothes, food, warmth at night, medicine that can heal.
"Let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream" (Amos 5:24).
Under "Transformational Development" are four broad areas of service: [1] spiritual development: JusticeRain INC is a faith-directed, Christian organization. We believe the greatest transforming influence in a person's life, in a community's corporate life, in a culture--is the person of Jesus Christ. Evangelism and church planting are goals in all of our identified recipient communities. The timing and mechanics of this work is primarily directed by the Christian leaders in those communities.
